Windsor Umubano Hotel
Windsor Umubano Hotel, Novotel (3-4 star international standard hotel)
This 100-room hotel is probably the best Kigali has to offer. Just 15 minutes drive from the airport the hotel is located in a strategic position overlooking the city on two sides. The hotel has a relatively comprehensive shopping arcade located just off the reception. The main dinning room and bar, on ground level extends out onto a veranda and overlooks the pool area and well tended gardens beyond. All meals are taken in this facility.
The rooms are sophisticated and well appointed with two double beds, veranda, dressing area and ensuite facilities include both bath and shower.

Gorilla's Nest
This recently completed 20-roomed hotel has 8 twin rooms and 12 doubles whilst being basic in facilities it is comfortable. Each room has ensuite facilities which include shower, basin and flush loo. Whilst there is hot and cold running water there is only a maximum of 15 litres of hot water in each room. The dinning room and bar are housed under a huge thatched building. After dinner on most nights traditional dancers and drummers entertain guests in a main area.
The friendly staff go out of their way to accommodate guests every need.

Kibuye Guesthouse
Over looking Lake Kivu, the Kibuye Guesthouse, has an ideal location nestled in one of the many bays. The Guesthouse has 20 rooms most overlook the bay. The rooms have ensuite bath, shower, basin and flush loo. Whilst the Guesthouse is primarily a holiday resort there are conference facilities as well. Most meals are taken on an open dinning area which is complimented by a bar. This facility is located on the lakeshore. The Guesthouse also has a beach and a marina where should guests wish, they can hire a motor boat and venture out to explore the lake.
Kibuye guesthouse is primarily a beach resort but other activities include fishing (there is a range of tilapia to be caught), pool, volleyball and tennis.

Nyungwe
Nyungwe National Park, which is situated in the majestic hills of southwestern Rwanda, is the largest ‘island’ of montane rain forest remaining in east and central Africa. This rich and ancient center of unparalleled biodiversity and natural wonders is uniquely accessible to the casual visitor.
Nyungwe is celebrated for its rich variety of flora and fauna. There are at least 200 tree species found in the forest, along with hundreds of different flowering plants, including wild begonia, more than 100 species of orchid, and sensational giant lobelias.
Of the large mammals, primates are the most visible, with 13 recorded species. Of particular interest are the Angola colobus - delightfully acrobatic arboreal monkeys which move in troops of several hundred - and an estimated 500 chimpanzee. Other primates one might encounter are L’Hoest’s monkey, silver monkey, vervet monkey, olive baboon, grey-cheeked mangabey and red-tailed monkey.
Nyungwe is also home to more than 275 bird species, making in the regions most important birding site. They include the spectacular Rwenzori turaco, the secretive red-chested alethe, and several iridescent sunbirds. Equally remarkable are the perpetually honking giant hornbills that crash through the forest canopy, and the stunning great blue turaco, an outlandishly blue, red and green bird.
Nyungwe lies at an elevation of between 1,600 metres and 2,950 metres, and enjoys an agreeably cool. An extensive network of well maintained forest trails leads to a number of waterfalls and viewing points.
A comfortable rest house and perfectly situated campsite lie alongside the main road, and the reserve can be visited as a day trip from smarter hotels in the towns of Butare and Cyangugu.

Giskura Guesthouse
The guesthouse is run by ORTPN and comprises of a number of different guests accommodation units. A maximum of sixteen people can be accommodated in two, three bedroom cottages and two room chalets, these are located in well-tended gardens of both indigenous and exotic forest plants.
Whilst the accommodation is basic, facilities are clean and well tended. Beds have blankets and sheets facilities include hot and cold running water, bath flush loo and basin. These facilities can either be self-catering or guests can eat in the dining room.
Excursions are all lead by the local National Parks game scouts and include: Walks to the Kamiranzou Waterfall, and along the many trails give access into the areas to view the habituated primate groups. These include the common chimpanzee and 9 other types of monkey. Other large mammal species include leopard, bushbuck, giant forest hogs and a variety of mongooses.
