Sokwe Camps
In this northern area we stay in our own luxury tented camp. The camp is fully mobile – giving us the flexibility to be where the wildlife and action is its best. An experienced camp crew looks after us in style. These professional crews who have worked together for over 7 years will prepare the camp, provide hot showers and daily laundry service, mix ice cold drinks, cook fabulous meals and make sure we are comfortable and happy.
While in camp, we game drive at our own pace, following the advice of our guide and the movements of the animals. We may leave at first light with a picnic, in pursuit of the lions whose unmistakable roaring we could hear from our camp during the night. We search for a family, complete with cubs at play, resting beside a stream or under acacia trees. In the late afternoon we search for predators again. This is hunting time, and if we have patience and luck we may see a kill. Around the campfire in the evening we discuss the events of the day, before moving to the mess tent for a sumptuous dinner.
Day 4 to 6 - Sabora Plains
VIP Safari Club is fortune to be concession holder of an area of land bordering the Serengeti National Park. Around this privately owned land lie three wildlife blocks: Grumeti, Fort Ikoma and Ikorongo.
Sabora Plains Camp is one of a kind; a 5+ star experience under canvas of proportions and luxury that only travelers of the last century knew how to achieve and which has been forgotten in the hustle and bustle of current day life. No more restrictions on views, size, space, peace, service - only the best was put in this camp to mirror the safaris of the settlers of old day Tanganyika.
The camp consists of 4 sleeping tents with en-suite bathrooms with baths, a dining and living tent. The camp has limitless hot water for baths, double and single beds, a swimming pool, and is child friendly.
Day 7 to 10 - Zanzibar
Zanzibar is one of the most fascinating places in East Africa. Thanks to an ambitious and far-reaching preservation programme funded by Unesco and the Aga Khan, many famous old buildings have been restored, or are in the process of being renovated.
Mnemba Island is an untouched atoll off the coast of Zanzibar, surrounded by a tropical Indian Ocean coral reef. The only inhabitants of the island are lodge staff and guests, offering luxurious privacy and exclusivity. Selected by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the three most romantic ocean destinations in the world, the island is an incomparable barefoot paradise where private cottages are hidden in the dappled shade. Spectacular tropical fish drift through the lagoons and fresh, delicate sea breezes waft through Mnemba Lodge, lending a castaway air to the entire island.
Day 11 - Last day
We enjoy our morning on the beach and are transferred by boat and car (1.5 to 2 hours) to Zanzibar Airport to connect our onward travel arrangements.
